Overview

St. Stephens College is the pride of Uzhavoor.  It was started in 1964 as a junior college with four batches of Pre- Degree students with Mathematics as a core subject of one of the programmes.  The B.Sc degree course in Mathematics started in 1968 when the College upgraded to the degree level.  In the last fifty years of its existence, the Department has been managed by eminent academicians.
Assignments are given to the students regularly by each teacher, and necessary corrections are made.  Students are asked to conduct seminars on given topics as well.  Every year a post-admission test is conducted for fresh Mathematics students. A bridge-course/remedial-course is arranged for those students who are poor in Mathematics.  The post-admission test results are considered for preparing the input-output statement at the end of the course.  An awareness program on basic mathematics is also arranged for non-mathematics graduate students of this College. The Department maintains a very high percentage of results in the university examinations.  Around 1000 students passed out from 1968-2026 in BSc Mathematics from this College.
