Centre for Environmental Education and Rural Development (CEERD) was established in St.Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor in 2001 to promote extension programmes of the college for the all round development of the region.
Paristhithi Mithra is an award instituted by CEERD, St. Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor in the year 2009. From 2017, two awards are given in recognition of the outstanding contribution of individuals, Social Service organizations, Clubs and educational institutions towards the promotion of environmental education, protection, conservation, preservation and sustainable development in the State of Kerala. The awards are presented every year to the winners on World Environment Day.
Each award consists of a certificate, the CEERD Trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 15000/- jointly sponsored by the former Principal Prof. V.P. Thomaskutty, the founder Chairman of CEERD, Prof. Joy Pallattumadom, the founder Executive Director of CEERD and Adv. Binoy George Cherukara, a wellwisher of CEERD and a Practicing Lawyer in the High Court of Kerala.
