About the Department
The Department of Botany began in the
year 1964 along with the college. The department was enriched by active
and skilled teachers. Over the years seven teachers worked in this department.
As there was no degree course in Botany in the college, the teachers were
engaged in teaching the Pre- degree course till the year 2000 and the complementary
paper for the B.Sc. Zoology course.

the greenhouse facility of our college. Eight interested students from the
Department of Zoology were given hands-on training in organic farming and
related practices. Students were trained on mixing of the soil, manure
collection from vermin compost units, pot filling and planting of saplings. Dr.
Sincy Joseph and Ms. Asha Raju from the department guided the students. Capt.
Jais Kurian provided his expertise on the propagation and maintenance of
Adenium plants. The students were highly motivated to continue the practice of
organic farming at home. The group dispersed after lunch together in the
college canteen.
